Water Exploration

WATER EXPLORATION PROJECT

Considering the scarcity of water and the lack of lakes and wells in many regions, MWC has focused its efforts on water exploration as a cornerstone of community well-being. MWC has initiated the installation of hand pumps and digging of wells near the residences of local populations in areas where water is scarce. This initiative has been particularly impactful in drought-affected regions, such as Tharparkar, and other remote areas of Sindh, Southern Punjab, Balochistan, and KPK.

Under this program, MWC contributed funds for wells and hand pumps, identifying suitable locations to ensure maximum benefit for the local communities. During this period, MWC installed 500+ hand pumps and dug 50+ water wells annually, delivering fresh water to communities in need. On average, the organization spends around 20 to 30 million rupees every year to carry out these projects.

To further enhance its efforts, MWC has introduced solar water wells in rural areas. These wells utilize solar energy to fetch larger quantities of fresh water, reducing the need for human labor and storing water in built-in tanks. The solar wells not only serve the general population but also support the livestock that form the backbone of these communities’ livelihoods. This initiative has enabled villagers to cultivate previously barren lands in Tharparkar, growing vegetables and fodder for their families and animals, significantly improving their socio-economic well-being.

MWC’s water exploration program has proven to be one of the most effective forms of Sadqa-e-Jariya, serving as a lifeline for countless communities and uplifting lives in the most water-scarce areas of the country.
