Children are the foundation of a strong and prosperous nation. Their well-being and education are directly linked to the growth and progress of society. Unfortunately, in Pakistan, many children are deprived of their right to education due to financial hardships, forcing them into a life of poverty and labor. To combat this challenge, Muslim Welfare Centre Pakistan (MWC) has launched the Support a Child Initiative, dedicated to providing free, quality education to children from underprivileged backgrounds.
MWC currently operates two schools: the Muslim Welfare School in Arafat Town, North Nazimabad, and Muslim Academy in Surjani Town, where nearly 1,230 students from Nursery to Grade 10 are enrolled. These schools are equipped with essential learning resources, including Science Labs and Computer Labs, to ensure students receive a well-rounded and modern education. During the year, 558 students at Arafat Town and 672 students at Surjani Town benefited from this initiative. MWC also provided free uniforms, shoes, and books for the students, with total expenses reaching Rs. 3.951 million.
Education alone cannot solve the challenges faced by these families, which is why MWC extends its support beyond the classroom. Each month, the organization distributes free grocery bags to 50–70 families of enrolled students, easing their financial burdens and ensuring children can attend school without the need to work. In addition, MWC prioritizes the health and well-being of its students by offering free healthcare services through its on-campus clinics.
